League Entry 2019/20 - How to Enter

If you would like to enter a team into the NYBL for the 2019/20 season please visit the Registration page.


  1. One registration per team (e.g. a club entering two U11 teams and one U13 team, would complete three entries).
  2. If you do not have an existing League Republic account you will need to create one during the registration process.
  3. Submitting your application(s) does not guarantee your entry is accepted by the NYBL. Club administrators will receive confirmation of acceptance once the Management Committee have had an opportunity to review all applications and formulate a draft competition structure for the new season.

2019/20 Schedule

  • League entry deadline: 2 weeks prior to the nearest competition date (e.g. the deadline to participate in competition date #1 is midnight on Sunday 15 September)
  • Last entry: 31 January 2020
  • Fixtures published: one week prior to each competition date
  • Competition dates:
    • Sunday 29 September 2019
    • Saturday 9 November 2019
    • Sunday 24 November 2019
    • Saturday 21 December 2019
    • Sunday 12 January 2020
    • Saturday 15 February 2020
  • NYBL Finals: Saturday 29 March 2020

    2019/20 Competition

    • U11 / U13 / U15 / U18 Leagues
    • Age group(s) will not run if less than 3 teams enter, subject to Management Committee consideration
    • Minimum of two games per team on each competition date
    • The top teams in each competition as at midnight on Saturday 29 February will proceed to the NYBL Finals, played on Norfolk Finals Day on Sunday 29 March 2020
    • U11 competition will follow mini-basketball format playing cross-court, all other age groups to be played on full-sized courts


    • Fixtures will be produced for publication as per the above schedule
    • Team administrators can manage their fixtures using the League Republic service on our website, or via the League Republic mobile app

    Licensing & Registration

    • Everyone who plays, coaches, officiates, or helps manage a team during a game (e.g. bench personnel, including physios, statisticians and team managers) in the NYBL must be a registered member of Basketball England and correctly licensed for their role

    Competition Fees

    • No up-front League Entry fee
    • £35 per team per competition date
    • Competition fees will be assigned to team administrators via League Republic
    • Competition fees are payable two weeks prior to each competition date via League Republic
    • If payment is not received the team will not be assigned fixtures at the corresponding competition date
    • Competition fees for the final tournament date (Saturday 29 February) are £0 for those teams who enter every preceding tournament throughout the year.

    Referees & Table Officials

    • All referees and table officials will be assigned by the NYBL
    • The NYBL is a development league and will provide a pathway for newly qualified, inexperienced, or lapsed referees and officials to return to the game
    • All L1 referees and officials will be paired with a more experienced mentor
    • All referees and table officials will be paid on a sliding scale according to the age group and experience

    • It is our aim to permit photography and filming during NYBL competitions
    • All clubs will be required to submit photograph consent forms prior to competition dates
    • Parents / guardians wishing to take photos must register at each individual competition date
    • All clubs should include a section on photography in their Child Protection Policy
